About the role: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Control Team Lead to oversee the daily operations of our credit control team and take responsibility for the management of key customer accounts. This is a pivotal role ensuring the business maintains healthy cash flow while building and maintaining strong relationships with high-value clients. Key Responsibilities: Lead, mentor, and support a team of credit controllers, driving performance and ensuring KPIs and targets are met. Allocate workloads and oversee daily credit control activities including debt chasing, account reconciliation, and dispute resolution. Conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews, providing coaching and development. Monitor credit control metrics and provide weekly/monthly reporting to senior management. Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across customer organisations to facilitate timely payments and resolve disputes. Partner with sales, customer service, and operations teams to ensure smooth onboarding and communication with key accounts. Monitor credit exposure and assess credit limits regularly, escalating high-risk accounts as needed. Ensure credit control policies and procedures are followed and updated in line with best practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes and reduce debtor days. Support the implementation and maintenance of credit control systems and tools. Produce aged debt reports and commentary for internal stakeholders. Identify and escalate high-risk accounts, initiating legal or recovery action where appropriate. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with audit and regulatory requirements. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in credit control, including at least two years in a supervisory or leadership role. They will have a strong track record of managing key or complex corporate accounts and demonstrate a solid understanding of credit risk, debt recovery, and cash flow management. With excellent communication and negotiation skills, they are confident influencing across all levels of the business. Proficiency in Excel and financial systems is essential, and experience with ERP/CRM integrations, multi-currency accounts, or a CICM qualification would be a distinct advantage.
