Job Opportunity: Equity Research Analyst

We are seeking a skilled and experienced equity research analyst to join our team. As an analyst, you will play a critical role in identifying investment opportunities in the equity or options market.

You will be responsible for finding opportunities that other market participants may not be capitalizing on, either by discovering new information or considering existing knowledge from a different perspective.

This role combines quantitative finance with creative problem solving in a fast-paced proprietary trading environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Volatility Analysis: Identify and analyze upcoming volatility events, utilizing your expertise in financial markets to inform investment decisions.
  • Breaking News: Provide real-time opinions on breaking news, leveraging your understanding of macroeconomic environments and political events.
  • Dividend Forecasting: Develop accurate dividend forecasts, taking into account factors such as company performance and industry trends.
  • Evaluating Special Situations: Evaluate special situations such as mergers and acquisitions and other corporate actions, using your analytical skills to identify potential opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with derivative traders on investment ideas, working together to develop and execute strategic plans.
  • Travel: Travel to company events and conferences as required, representing the organization and building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Stock Valuation: Perform stock valuation analysis, utilizing your knowledge of financial models and valuation techniques to inform investment decisions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as finance or economics.
  • Financial Experience: 3 years' + experience in financial markets or progress towards CFA qualification is an advantage.
  • Skills: Strong written, analytical, and financial research skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrable interest in, and some knowledge of, macroeconomic environments and political events.
  • Prioritization: Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity: Familiarity with a trading environment and derivative products preferred.
  • Problem Solving: Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, an effective communicator, and resourceful in solving problems.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work additional and flexible hours when necessary.
