Global Procurement Director Job Description

The Global Procurement Director will lead the development and implementation of strategic procurement plans to support business objectives. This role will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

A typical day in this position may include:

  • Leading procurement negotiations, managing suppliers, and engaging stakeholders to achieve category strategies.
  • Driving value through cost savings, cash flow improvement, and efficiency gains from procurement activities.
  • Representing the organization in critical decisions with short and long-term impacts on success.
  • Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Negotiating contract terms aligned with business priorities.
  • Managing a team of employees responsible for procurement tasks.
  • Providing guidance and coaching on job performance and career development.

This role requires:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 12+ years of experience in procurement, preferably including experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of efficient global procurement organizations and processes within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams to drive results in categories or related areas.
  • Experience working in a matrixed global organization while driving local priorities within a global framework.
  • Experience leading manager-level professionals in a multinational firm.
  • Working knowledge of sourcing contracting tools, ERP systems, and eRFx systems preferred.
