Data Protection Specialist: Compliance and Risk Management

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Discovery and Data Subject Access Request (DSAR) professional to join our team. This role will involve leading or managing discovery and DSAR projects, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities include receiving and reviewing data subject access requests from individuals, verifying their identity, and coordinating with relevant departments to locate and retrieve requested personal data within the stipulated timeframe.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing and leading discovery or DSAR projects as a Quality Control (QC) or Lead, as well as excellent knowledge of privacy and data protection.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and review data subject access requests from individuals, ensuring all necessary information is provided.
  • Verify the identity of the data subject making the request to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments to locate and retrieve requested personal data within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Redact third-party information and confidential data as needed before sharing the requested information.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of data protection laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and others that may apply.
  • Ensure that all DSAR processes are in line with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Acknowledge receipt of DSARs and communicate expected timelines for response to data subjects.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of the personal data collected and processed, the purposes of processing, and any relevant recipients.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading Discovery or DSAR projects as a QC or Lead.
  • Excellent knowledge of privacy and data protection.
  • Ability to work up to 25 hours per week.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
