Job Summary:

The Electronic Engineering Technician plays a vital role in providing expert technical support for diverse academic programmes, including Electronic Engineering, Robotics and Automation, Biomedical and Cybersecurity.

This position requires an exceptionally skilled individual to maintain and support complex hardware, software and laboratory equipment essential for these programmes.

The ideal candidate will ensure that both students and staff have the necessary technical resources to excel in their studies and research.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Act as the primary point of contact for technical support requests from staff across all departmental programmes.
  2. Maintain, troubleshoot and repair specialised laboratory equipment, including robotics systems, biomedical devices, industrial controllers and electronic components.
  3. Install, configure and manage software and hardware relevant to electronic design, simulation and programming.
  4. Provide hands-on technical assistance to students and lecturers during practical sessions, labs and project work.
  5. Assist with the procurement, inventory and lifecycle management of all technical equipment and components.
  6. Ensure all equipment and lab environments comply with safety standards and best practices.
  7. Keep detailed records of technical issues, maintenance activities and system configurations.
  8. Stay current with advancements in the fields of electronic engineering, robotics and cybersecurity to help identify and integrate new technologies into the department's curriculum and research.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technically proficient and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in one or more of the specified fields.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to students and collaborate effectively with academic staff.

Benefits:

  • Salary: €38,803 - €54,884 per annum.
  • Annual Leave: 24 days.

Hours of Work:

To be on duty for not less than 36.5 hours per week.

Hours of work may be allocated between the hours of 8.00am and 10.00pm.

Monday to Friday inclusive.
