Job Overview

The role of Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance and repair work across various areas. This position involves working shifts to ensure minimal disruption to production.


Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance within a global operations facility.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of packaging lines, facilities and plant equipment.
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and GMP during maintenance work, including workshops and spare parts storage areas in an organised and tidy condition at all times.
  • Participate in training and assessment activities related to the position (e.g., GMP training, equipment technical training, Health & Safety requirements) and undertake additional tasks as assigned by the maintenance manager or maintenance supervisor.
  • Identify and implement improvement projects that will enhance the operating effectiveness of equipment.
  • Experience and knowledge of plant maintenance and calibration systems, including software management systems.
  • Familiar with writing relevant equipment SOPs and controls for operation and safe running of equipment.
  • Assist with training of machine operators on machine setup, operations fault correction and adjustment.
  • Respond to out-of-hours calls and emergencies as part of an on-call roster within the maintenance department.
  • Apply systematic root cause problem solving and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Update records with relevant information relating to preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance tasks.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
  • Senior trades qualification and at least 5 years post-qualification experience in mechanical or electrical trade.
  • Experience in hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance and troubleshooting of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and high-volume packaging lines.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to multitask.
  • Experience in pneumatics, electronics, hydraulics, programmable controllers, servo drives, HVAC and vision systems.
  • Experience in high-volume automation/robotics.
  • Experience in manufacturing plant equipment.
  • Understanding of vision systems is advantageous.
  • Experience in a GMP environment and GMP compliance.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or food manufacturing facility.
  • Experience with SAP PM.
  • Experience with PLCs.
