Student Wellbeing Support Specialist

This role is crucial in ensuring student wellbeing, welfare, and progression needs are effectively managed. The position focuses on implementing policies, standard operating procedures, and processes to support both staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage student welfare concerns or information on LDHD, safeguarding students in line with Study Group policy and standard operating procedures.
  • Responsibility for student welfare and safeguarding within the centre, related administration, and secure record-keeping.
  • Act as Deputy Designated Liaison Person and monitor the escalation phone in the absence of the Deputy Director Student Experience.
  • Create Agreed Support Plans (ASPs), including Safety Plans and Exit Plans, ensuring necessary approval and escalation processes are followed.
  • Organise induction and other wellbeing, enrichment, and engagement activities, produce related materials to help develop skills and sense of community.
  • Work collaboratively with teams within DISC to enable a holistic and consistent approach to Welfare Support and advocate inclusive practice within the classroom.
  • Build relationships with the University Partner to promote effective engagement to the benefit of students.
  • Contribute to developing, communicating, and enacting Study Group Ireland's Student Experience and Wellbeing Strategy, framework, policy, and standard operating procedures through the Wellbeing Communities of Practice and DLP meetings.
  • Provide engagement and progression support within the centre, related administration, and secure record-keeping.
  • Act as a personal tutor to deliver Academic Success tutorials and provide 1:1 personal development, academic, and progression counselling to students.
  • Be a key point of contact for all students, deal professionally and promptly with student enquiries and requests for support, fostering positive relationships with the student body.
  • Assist in organising and delivering student events such as induction, transition, and enrichment activities.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Highly developed problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience in student wellbeing and welfare support.
