Job Title

Linux Systems Engineer

This is a remote Linux Systems Engineer role, based out of Dublin with occasional travel around Europe. As a Linux Systems Engineer, you will work within the globally distributed Cloud Storage and Data Centre team, responsible for maintaining the stability, uptime, security, and optimal performance of critical Linux Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Data Centre, Storage and Cloud infrastructure
  • Install, configure and manage Linux servers and software as required, using automation where possible
  • Configure and manage Data Protection platforms including Dell Networker, Commvault and Zerto
  • Work closely with DBA, Network, Application, Systems and Service Desk teams on projects, migrations, upgrades, refreshes, architecture and other activities
  • Carry out regular Disaster Recovery (DR) testing on key systems, ensuring DR procedures are up to date
  • Maintain systems maintenance, support, installations, upgrades, performance monitoring, capacity planning and storage administration with minimum disruption to the operation teams
  • Assess current and projected system performance, then recommend and perform changes and enhancements
  • Ensure maximum availability of Data Centre and Cloud systems and minimum disruption due to change - planned or otherwise
  • Maintain documentation and diagrams to describe all systems, networks and communications
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in Linux, Data Centre, Cloud and related technology
  • Evaluate and recommend new infrastructure technologies, both on-prem and in the Cloud

Experience in data centre migrations and DC migration experience would be highly advantageous. The ideal candidate will have extensive Linux knowledge and experience, including but not limited to admin, patching, setup and building new Linux VMs. A strong technical background with proven analytical and problem-solving skills is essential.
