Social Care Specialist

As a Social Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in the care and well-being of young people. Your primary responsibility will be to provide support and guidance to our residents, helping them develop essential life skills and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Key aspects of this role include:

  • Developing professional relationships with children and their parents/carers
  • Assisting in day-to-day care and supervision of children, engaging them in activities such as household chores, cooking, and personal care
  • Contributing to the development of young people through promotion and provision of a healthy lifestyle
  • Facilitating personal education plans for young people and organizing recreational and leisure activities
  • Supporting the development of young people in both personal and social skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • A Third Level Qualification in Applied Social Studies in Social Care or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • Experience in caring for young persons
  • Experience of report writing and support plans

Additionally, the successful candidate will have:

Desirable Requirements
  • An understanding of basic mental health issues, medical, social care, social welfare systems and child welfare and protection
  • A compassionate and empathetic style

This role requires maintaining confidentiality, adhering to policies and procedures, and participating in formal supervision and staff training programmes.
