
Aquatic Resource Conservation Specialist

Job Overview:
Aquatic Resource Conservation Specialists play a vital role in safeguarding Ireland's inland and sea angling resources. In this pivotal position, you will be responsible for enforcing statutory provisions related to fisheries management and environmental protection.
- Main Responsibilities:
- Patrol lakes, rivers, sea, coast, and estuaries to detect and deter unauthorized fishing activities
- Conduct thorough inspections of commercial Salmon & Sea Trout licence holders and recreational anglers to ensure compliance with regulations and bye-laws
- Gather evidence, apprehend offenders, and provide expert testimony in court proceedings
- Maintain boats, vehicles, and surveillance equipment to support efficient operations
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including fishery owners, clubs, and local authorities
- Compile detailed reports and provide insightful analysis to inform policy decisions
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing public inquiries and concerns
- Remain up-to-date with evolving legislation, scientific research, and best practices in the field
Necessary Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Leaving Certificate (Level 5 NFQ) or recognized equivalent
- A valid full Category B driving licence
- Extensive experience working on boats or in an environmental/conservation role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and as part of a team
- No convictions under Irish Fisheries Legislation
- Fluent English language proficiency, both spoken and written
- Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office
- Ability to reside within a reasonable distance of the assigned base location
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
