Environmental Conservation Specialist

We are seeking an Environmental Conservation Specialist to join our team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting ecological surveys, preparing environmental reports, and supporting planning applications across a range of habitats and project types.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field surveys, including habitat mapping, flora and fauna assessments.
  • Undertake Appropriate Assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments, and other statutory reporting.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports and ecological inputs for planning submissions and EIARs.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and statutory bodies.
  • Contribute to biodiversity action plans and ecological management plans.
  • Assist in environmental monitoring and mitigation during construction phases.
Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • BSc or MSc in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in ecological consultancy or a similar field.
  • Experience with Irish and EU environmental legislation.
  • Proficiency in habitat mapping using Fossitt classification and GIS.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Protected species licences.
  • Membership of CIEEM or working toward it.
  • Knowledge of freshwater/marine ecosystems.
  • Experience preparing Biodiversity Net Gain or Nature-Based Solutions reports.
  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexible approach to working hours during peak survey seasons.
