Ecological Specialist

Contribute to expert ecological advice for sustainable development and biodiversity conservation. We seek a passionate Ecological Specialist to deliver high-quality ecological assessments and woodland management solutions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct habitat, vegetation, and woodland surveys using NVC/Fossitt classification systems.
  • Prepare ecological assessments and reports including EcIA, Natura Impact Statements, and Biodiversity Management Plans.
  • Provide expert advice on woodland restoration, native woodland creation, and invasive species management.
  • Assist with environmental planning and EIA/AA processes for infrastructure, forestry, and development projects.
  • Liaise with statutory bodies, NGOs, and local authorities.
  • Support project management including scoping, costing, and client communication.
  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation, policy, and best practice.

Requirements:
  • Strong background in Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Field skills in habitat/vegetation classification and woodland ecology.
  • Knowledge of Irish or UK habitat classification systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel across Ireland.
  • GIS skills and mapping experience an advantage.
