Job Description">

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Ecologist to lead ecological projects, provide expert advice on biodiversity and conservation matters, and contribute to environmental impact assessments across various sectors.

">Key Responsibilities">
  • ">
  • Lead and manage ecological surveys, including habitat assessments, protected species surveys, and impact assessments.">
  • Provide expert ecological advice to clients, stakeholders, and project teams.">
  • Prepare high-quality ecological reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Appropriate Assessments (AA), and Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR).">
  • Develop and implement ecological mitigation strategies and biodiversity enhancement plans.">
  • Manage and mentor junior ecologists, supporting their development and technical expertise.">
  • Liaise with statutory bodies, regulatory authorities, and local communities regarding ecological and biodiversity matters.">
  • Support business development by identifying new opportunities and preparing proposals for ecological services.">
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the EU Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, and Irish wildlife laws.">
">Required Skills and Qualifications">
  • ">
  • A degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Botany, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification is desirable.">
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in ecological consultancy, conservation, or a related field.">
  • Strong knowledge of Irish and EU environmental legislation and planning policies.">
  • Experience in leading habitat and protected species surveys, including bats, birds, otters, and amphibians.">
  • Proficiency in preparing EcIA, AA, and EIAR reports.">
  • Membership of CIEEM (or eligibility for membership) is desirable.">
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.">
  • Proficiency in GIS mapping and data analysis is an advantage.">
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel for fieldwork.">
