Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the operational readiness of all specialist vehicles and equipment.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting, diagnosing, and maintaining a diverse fleet of emergency service vehicles and operational equipment.
  • Applying your expertise across multiple mechanical disciplines, demonstrating flexibility and technical excellence in every task.
  • Participating in the Regional Standby Rota, providing critical out-of-hours support, including emergency repairs, equipment servicing, and vehicle recovery in response to live operational incidents.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A certified level 3 trade qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance and level 3 in Vehicle System Repair and Replacement in Electric/Hybrid Vehicles.
  • Two years post-apprenticeship experience working within a trade role is essential.
  • You must be qualified to safely install, maintain, and fault find both 240v and 110v electrical systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • A current full UK Class C driving licence is desirable but not essential.
  • Competence in the use of Management Information Systems and IT software.

About the Role
