Early Childhood Educator Role

This role plays a vital part in enhancing the cognitive, physical, social and emotional development of students. The successful candidate will report to the Principal and partner with the classroom teacher to develop and implement learning programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the classroom teacher to create child-care programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
  • Lead activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, taking children on outings and providing opportunities for creativity through art, play and music.
  • Maintain a safe environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children.
  • Evaluate children's abilities, interests and needs and discuss progress or problems with the classroom teacher.
  • Monitor children for signs of potential learning or behavioral concerns and prepare reports when necessary.
  • Support children in developing proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
  • Act consistently with professional requirements related to all aspects of their work.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a two-year college diploma in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required.
  • Registration in good standing with the relevant regulatory body is mandatory.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working in a school, early learning center, educational setting or registered childcare is essential.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education full day early learning program is necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience with age-appropriate programs is essential.
  • Knowledge of early literacy and numerical skills acquisition is crucial.
  • Experience with classroom management is vital.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Patient, empathetic, and able to work closely with students with complex needs.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Regular attendance at work is expected.
