Ecological Consultant Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Ecological Consultant to lead survey programmes, deliver technical reports, and guide junior ecologists.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Ecologist to work on a variety of projects, develop their career, and make a tangible contribution to Ireland's ecological future.

The ideal candidate will have strong field survey skills and working knowledge of Irish flora and fauna. They will also be able to produce high-quality ecological impact assessments and technical reports aligned with Irish planning law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead survey programmes and deliver high-quality ecological assessments
  • Manage small to mid-sized projects and contribute to cross-disciplinary collaboration with experts across the wider APEM Group
  • Guide junior ecologists and mentor them in their roles

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Third-level qualification in Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Botany, or a related field
  • 3–5+ years of experience in ecological consultancy or similar
  • Strong field survey skills and working knowledge of Irish flora and fauna
  • Experience producing ecological impact assessments and technical reports aligned with Irish planning law
  • A good understanding of Irish and EU legislation (Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, Planning and Development Act)
