Nature-Based Solutions Specialist

This role focuses on implementing effective nature-based solutions in the Lough Melvin sub-catchments to enhance instream habitat. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in catchment management and nature-based solutions, with a focus on improving water quality.

The main responsibilities include day-to-day delivery of the FLOW project (NbS element), overseeing the delivery of NbS works, assisting in implementing a monitoring programme, and coordinating with contract staff. The appointee will also support project delivery through tender oversight, environmental impact assessments, and clear reporting across all project activities.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant Diploma or Degree in environmental science, agricultural science, engineering, natural sciences, or a related scientific discipline. They will have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, exceptional attention to detail, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. They will also have a high level of proficiency in IT, including MS Office suite and GIS software.

They will have demonstrable experience in scientific and technical report writing, planning, executing, and reporting on original research studies, and stakeholder engagement particularly with angling communities, farming groups, landowners, and other local stakeholders. Experience using remote technologies and land surveying techniques is desirable.

The position is based in an office but may involve considerable travelling and residing in locations across Ireland. The salary scale for this position aligns with that of a Research Officer at Inland Fisheries Ireland. This contract will terminate by the end of December 2028.
