
Pediatric Nurse Specialist

As a registered paediatric/general nurse, you will have the opportunity to work with children who require complex care in their own homes.
About This RoleWe are seeking an experienced and compassionate individual who can work independently and provide high-quality care. Our ideal candidate will be skilled in medication management, seizure management, nebulizer management, pain management, care of children with complex needs/disabilities, airway management, suctioning, stoma care management, moving and handling, skin integrity management, professional boundaries/confidentiality, working in the home environment as a lone worker, infection control and disposal of clinical waste, and CPR.
Key Responsibilities- Medication Management: Administer medications as prescribed by doctors and monitor patient responses.
- Seizure Management: Manage seizures, including administration of buccal midazolam if required.
- Nebulizer Management: Use nebulizers to deliver medication to patients.
- Pain Management: Assess and manage pain in children with complex needs.
- Care of Children with Complex Needs/Disabilities: Provide high-quality care to children with complex needs/disabilities.
- Airway Management: Maintain a clear airway for children with respiratory distress.
- Suctioning: Remove secretions from children's airways.
- Stoma Care Management: Manage stomas, including irrigation and dressing changes.
- Moving and Handling/Hoist and Repositioning: Safely move and reposition children with physical disabilities.
- Skin Integrity Management: Prevent pressure ulcers and promote wound healing.
- Professional Boundaries/Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries.
- Working in the Home Environment/Lone Worker: Work independently in the home environment and maintain confidentiality.
- Infection Control and Disposal of Clinical Waste: Follow infection control protocols and dispose of clinical waste properly.
- CPR: Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on children with cardiac arrest.
- Current NMBI Pin: Hold a valid pin from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- Previous Experience Working with Children: Have previous experience working with children with complex needs.
- Willingness to Undergo Training: Be willing to undergo any training required for the role.
- Garda Vetting: Undergo garda vetting and obtain clearance.
- Registration with INMO or Affiliated Union: Be registered with the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) or an affiliated union.
- Full Immunizations and Vaccination History: Provide proof of full immunizations and vaccination history.
