Child and Family Centred Phlebotomy Specialist

This position plays a pivotal role in the provision of a high-quality, child-centered phlebotomy service within our organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering phlebotomy services in OPD clinic and ward settings, ensuring that blood draws and collection of venous and blood samples from children and young people are performed competently and with precision.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with children, families, and healthcare professionals. They will also contribute to the development and implementation of guidelines and protocols related to phlebotomy practice, while maintaining a safe and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a high-quality, child-centered phlebotomy service
  • Perform blood draws and collect venous and blood samples from children and young people
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with colleagues and families
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of phlebotomy guidelines and protocols
  • Ensure a safe and professional working environment
Requirements:
  • Registration in the general and/or paediatric division of the live register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
  • Acute paediatric experience
  • Recent phlebotomy experience
