Swimming Activator Job Description\

Swim Ireland is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the role of Swimming Activator (Dublin City). The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting swimming participation, developing programs, and engaging with local stakeholders to increase access to swimming opportunities.

Job Description:\

The Swimming Activator will assist Swim Ireland and Dublin City Council in achieving their core objectives of promoting swimming. Key responsibilities include:

  • \
  • Engaging with swimming pool operators to secure pool time for Swim Ireland programs and hard-to-reach groups.\
  • Identifying suitable open water swimming locations, working with the Local Authority to ensure locations are safe, accessible, inclusive, and welcoming.\
  • Organizing swimming teaching courses in conjunction with the Education department and local facilities.\
  • Increasing the diversity of our swimming teacher community by engaging with hard-to-reach groups to promote teaching swimming.\
  • Recruiting, training, and retaining Community Coaches to deliver community programs in each county.\
  • Supporting the development of programs in collaboration with Swim Ireland Activation & Participation department, and Local Sports Partnerships.\
  • Demonstrating specific lifecycle programs in swimming to support females at all stages of the lifecycle.\
  • Delivering programs for hard-to-reach groups, in line with Sport Ireland and Healthy Ireland objectives.\
  • Seeking feedback and evaluating programs periodically.\
  • Engaging and delivering on campaigns and key events.\

Required Skills and Qualifications:\

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • \
  • A relevant third-level qualification to degree level in Sports Development, Sports & Recreation, Health Promotion, or other relevant disciplines.\
  • At least 2 years of relevant on-the-job experience.\
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.\
  • Excellent communication and administration skills, with attention to detail.\
  • Strong work ethic, flexibility, and adaptability.\
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.\
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland on a full-time basis.\
  • Full, clean driving license and access to a vehicle.\
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT and software packages, including MSOffice, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.\
