Procurement Specialist Job Description

Job Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned procurement expert to drive our client's supply chain strategy forward. The successful candidate will be responsible for acquiring and negotiating the purchase of mechanical components and equipment essential for business operations.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in procurement, preferably within the Mechanical Sector. They will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, including proficiency in report writing, with desirable traits including results-driven orientation, pharmaceutical procurement expertise, commercial acumen, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

The selected candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, estimating, surveying and construction operations teams, to understand project requirements and specifications. They will also negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or delivery schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Identify, evaluate and manage relationships with qualified Mechanical component suppliers.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules and payment terms.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Equipment Sourcing:
  • Source and procure equipment and materials in accordance with project specifications and production requirements.
  • Evaluate potential suppliers for quality, reliability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and pricing.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on procurement strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide input on design changes and alternatives to optimize costs.
  • Cost Optimization:
  • Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or delivery schedules.
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports and other data to determine reasonable prices.
  • Order Fulfillment:
  • Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Track and expedite orders to meet production and project timelines.
  • Resolve issues related to shortages or quality discrepancies.
  • Risk Mitigation:
  • Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, geopolitical events and other factors that may impact the supply chain.
