Job Description:The Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Outreach Project (DROP) seeks a dedicated and experienced legal professional to contribute their expertise to our Board of Management. As a Board Member with legal expertise, you will play a vital role in shaping the organization's strategic direction and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic guidance and assistance on legal matters and charity obligations under current legislation.
- Actively participating in Board Meetings and Subcommittee sessions, offering strategic insights and advice on legal and regulatory matters.
- Committing to serve as a member of at least one Subcommittee, driving fundraising, grant applications, and identifying opportunities for new and additional funding.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least 5 years' experience, preferably in the charity/not-for-profit sector.
- Knowledge of Irish law, regulations, and governance frameworks applicable to the not-for-profit sector.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Benefits and Expectations:
This is a volunteer opportunity with no remuneration. However, the organization will meet any out-of-pocket expenses incurred in fulfilling your role as Board Member.
Board Members are expected to commit approximately 4-6 hours per month, including scheduled Board meetings, bi-monthly Subcommittee sessions, the Annual General Meeting, and a Board review day.
