Job Title

A Medical Devices Technician is required to join our dynamic team in a healthcare environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning and reprocessing Reusable Invasive Medical Devices (RIMDs) across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collecting used RIMDs and preparing them for decontamination.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment such as trolleys, autoclaves, gas plasma sterilisers, washer/disinfectors, and other departmental equipment.
  • Packing and preparing medical devices for use in theatres, wards, and other departments.
  • Decontaminating and sterilising RIMDs, endoscopes, and probes to high standards.
  • Inspecting and testing processed devices, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Operating mechanical processing equipment and handling raw material components safely.
  • Maintaining compliance with Health & Safety procedures and personal hygiene requirements.
Requirements
  • Ability to work non-core hours, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • Completion of a Decontamination Course (HSELand.ie levels 1 and 2 or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working in a comparable healthcare environment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • FETAC Level 6 Decontamination qualification.
  • Experience working in a decontamination/sterilisation unit in a hospital of similar size.
  • Other relevant third-level qualifications.
