Home Care Nursing Opportunity

The ideal candidate would have paediatric experience working one on one with children in their own home and would also be a companionate and reliable individual capable of working on their own initiative.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of an enthusiastic team in a homecare setting, delivering high-quality care to children who require complex medical support. Our nurses are valued members of our team and play a vital role in providing tailored care that meets the unique needs of each child.

Nursing Duties:

  • Medication Management: Ensuring accurate administration of prescribed medications, monitoring for any potential side effects, and maintaining comprehensive medication records.
  • Seizure management including administration of buccal midazolam if required.
  • Nebulizer Management: Administering respiratory treatments via nebulizers, monitoring oxygen saturation levels, and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Pain management: Implementing evidence-based pain management strategies, monitoring pain levels, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to optimize care.
  • Care of Child with Complex Needs/Disability: Providing individualized care that addresses the unique needs of each child, promoting independence, dignity, and well-being.
  • Airway Management: Maintaining a safe airway, ensuring adequate ventilation, and using advanced life support skills if necessary.
  • Suctioning: Safely removing mucus and other secretions from the child's airway, minimizing the risk of complications.
  • Stoma care management: Providing skilled care for children with stomas, ensuring optimal skin integrity, and managing stoma output effectively.
  • Moving and Handling/Hoist and Repositioning: Safely transferring and positioning children, minimizing the risk of injury or strain.
  • Skin Integrity Management: Promoting healthy skin through regular assessments, moisturizing, and pressure area care.
  • Professional Boundaries/Confidentiality: Maintaining professional boundaries, respecting confidentiality, and adhering to data protection guidelines.
  • Working in the Home Environment/Lone Worker: Working independently in the client's home, maintaining safety protocols, and utilizing technology to stay connected with the team.
  • Infection Control and Disposal of Clinical Waste: Adhering to infection control protocols, disposing of clinical waste correctly, and minimizing the risk of cross-contamination.
  • CPR: Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation when necessary, maintaining certification, and staying up-to-date with latest techniques.
