Design Engineer Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Design Engineer to join our organization in Kilkenny, focusing on major civil, road, and transportation projects.

  • This role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to complex projects, utilizing expertise in feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and contract drawings.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Preparing and reviewing feasibility studies, preliminary designs, and reports;
  2. Producing detailed contract drawings using MX Roads or Civil 3D;
  3. Liaising with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities;
  4. Managing procurement of sub-consultants, site investigations, and road contracts (including pricing schedules and bills of quantities);
  5. Preparing and assessing tenders, and administering construction contracts;
  6. Ensuring projects are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution;
  • A Level 9 Master's Degree is advantageous;
  • 5+ years' experience in civil, roads, or transportation projects;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and MX Roads/Civil 3D;
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
