Project Commercial Manager Job Description

This job requires a commercial professional with excellent project management skills to oversee the financial and contractual aspects of a large-scale construction project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing client and supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial management, contract negotiation, and project administration. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building effective relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage client payment cycles, including final account and project change account, to maximize income and achieve best possible cash flow position.
  • Negotiate contracts with sub-contractors, ensuring detailed and well-structured agreements are in place.
  • Accurately report liabilities and assess sub-contractor applications, issuing notices strictly in accordance with contractual and legal requirements.

Commercial Skills and Qualifications:
Required Knowledge:
  • Strong commercial acumen and knowledge of construction industry standard forms of contract.
  • Experience in quantification, costing of construction works, and task elemental cost analysis.
  • Conflict avoidance, management, and dispute resolution procedures.
Desirable:
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current construction legislation.
  • Ability to deliver training to commercial audiences relating to contracts and commercial activities.
