Job Description

Risk assessment analysts play a pivotal role in high-stakes business environments where due diligence and thoroughness are paramount. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive enhanced due diligence investigations on high-risk clients.

This entails scrutinizing politically exposed persons, clients from high-risk jurisdictions, and complex corporate structures in line with internal policies and desktop procedures. Delving deeper, research and analysis of beneficial ownership structures is crucial to identify ultimate beneficial owners and control relationships.

Analyzing source of wealth and source of funds information for high-net-worth individuals and entities using publicly available data or documentation is another key responsibility. Furthermore, performing adverse media screening and analyzing findings to assess reputational and financial crime risks is essential.

The ideal candidate will also prepare detailed, well-documented enhanced due diligence reports with clear risk assessments and recommendations, which will then be presented to senior management for review and approval.

Effective communication and collaboration with relationship managers and other business units to gather additional client information is vital. Additionally, identifying potential suspicious activities and escalating concerns through appropriate channels is a critical aspect of this role.

Mentoring junior analysts and providing quality assurance reviews of their work is also an important aspect of this position.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this challenging role, applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as finance, law, accounting, or information systems, or equivalent work experience in a related field.

A minimum of 5 years' experience in a brokerage or corporate banking environment, with expertise in on-boarding or reviewing high-risk client relationships and conducting EDD, is highly desirable.

Relevant financial crime qualifications, such as ICA or ACAMS, are mandatory. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are also essential.

Strong research, investigatory, and problem-solving skills are necessary to navigate complex scenarios effectively. The ability to make risk-based recommendations and articulate those persuasively to other departments and senior management is critical.

Prior experience in a highly automated environment and/or a high level of comfort with computers and technology is a significant advantage.

Intermediate experience with MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel is also required.

The ideal candidate should be able to work efficiently, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
