Environmental Health and Safety Specialist Role

This Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist position supports the site with EHS requirements, inspections, and projects. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with various standards, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide guidance and support to colleagues and service providers on EHS matters. Key responsibilities include performing regular EHS inspections, fostering an ethos of EHS awareness, and managing contractor works in relevant areas.

Key qualifications for this role include a minimum Level 7 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or an equivalent discipline. Additionally, at least three years of EHS experience are required, preferably in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical environments.

Responsibilities
  • Foster an ethos and culture of environmental health and safety awareness through engagement with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage contractor works in relevant areas, walk the job, review RAMS, oversee solar panel projects, and support contractor management processes onsite.
  • Conduct inspections and internal assessments on programs to identify opportunities for improvement, including environmental health and safety, good manufacturing practices (GMP), and business excellence.
  • Ensure early investigation of events with thorough and robust SMART corrective and preventive measures.
  • Provide technical safety and environmental expertise and support to relevant departments and personnel onsite.
  • Support environmental health and safety risk management processes for relevant site areas and tasks.
  • Assist the EHS Head in ensuring site compliance with environmental health and safety legislative requirements, regulatory bodies, and corporate requirements.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training to the site as required.
  • Deputise for other EHS team members as required.
  • Participate in the site emergency response program and support continuous improvement activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with GxP requirements onsite.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum Level 7 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or an equivalent discipline.
  • At least three years of EHS experience, preferably in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical environments.
  • Strong technical background with a hands-on approach to EHS.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to address challenges effectively.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Collaborative working style with strong cross-functional relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
