Mechanical Design Position Overview

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Athlone, Ireland. This is a permanent position offering strong career progression and a competitive package.

The successful candidate will work on a range of energy-efficient and sustainable building projects across all stages of the design and delivery cycle, including education, commercial, healthcare, industrial, and residential developments.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Project Directors to establish project scope, timelines, and deliverables
  • Produce innovative mechanical design solutions aligned to client specifications
  • Prepare cost plans, technical reports, and budget estimates
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians, ensuring deliverables are met
  • Attend and contribute to site meetings, inspections, and technical reviews
  • Evaluate contractor submittals and confirm compliance with design intent
  • Support BCAR inspection planning and implementation at project milestones
  • Cordinate designs with other disciplines to ensure smooth project integration

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years mechanical design experience in a consultancy environment
  • Level 8 qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (Chartership recognised)
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, water services, drainage, and current building regulations in Ireland
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Hevacomp, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and MS Office
  • Excellent technical documentation and reporting ability
  • Chartered Engineer (or eligible to apply within 18 months)
