Clinical Coding Team Leader Role Summary

The Clinical Coding Team Leader plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of clinical data. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating the HIPE department on a daily basis, validating daily downloads, and developing Activity-Based Funding (ABF) in conjunction with the Clinical Coding Manager, Finance Manager, and DNE Regional Clinical Coding Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate the HIPE department on a day-to-day basis.
  • Validation of daily downloads.
  • Development of Activity Based Funding (ABF), in conjunction with the Clinical Coding Manager, Finance Manager, and DNE Regional Clinical Coding Manager.
  • Manage, support, and develop departmental staff.
  • Assist and support the induction, training, and support of new coders.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical coding, with experience in working in a hospital setting and practical coding experience. They should also have knowledge of Irish and Australian coding standards, including how these are updated and implemented. Additionally, they should be proficient in using the HIPE portal and its functions, including HCAT, HIPE Reporter, and PICQ.
