About the Job

Callan Golf Club is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our golf course maintenance team as Head Greenkeeper. This is a critical role that requires a deep understanding of turf management practices, irrigation systems, and course maintenance equipment.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-5 years experience in golf course maintenance with time spent in a supervisory/leadership role. A minimum FETAC Level 6 qualification or higher in a relevant field is also required, along with evidence of continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance of the golf course to ensure it meets the highest standards.
  • Lead and direct the greenkeeping and course maintenance team to achieve optimal results.
  • Implement and manage agreed turf care programmes to maintain the health and appearance of the course.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, weather conditions, and turf health to inform decision-making.
  • Provide input into the development of maintenance strategies and budget planning.
  • Manage the maintenance budget in liaison with senior colleagues.
  • Implement sustainable practices into the management of the golf course to reduce environmental impact.
  • Maintain all machinery and equipment to required safety and maintenance standards.
  • Implement agreed course improvement projects to enhance the overall player experience.
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and Environmental Protection Agency compliance.
  • Record Plant Protection Products use on relevant portals.
  • Communicate effectively with members regarding course conditions, maintenance schedules, and any renovation programs.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2-5 years experience in golf course maintenance with supervisory/leadership experience.
  • FETAC Level 6 qualification or higher in a relevant field.
  • Energetic and diligent worker with excellent attention to detail.
  • Full Driver License.
  • In-depth knowledge of turf management practices, irrigation systems, and course maintenance equipment.
  • Excellent management and communication skills, including well-developed IT skills.
  • Able to perform physically demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
