Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

Central Engineering is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented professional to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs.

  • The ideal candidate will assist in the implementation and maintenance of our EHS Management System, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and best practices.
  • They will conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections across operations and support functions, identifying areas for improvement.
  • The successful candidate will investigate incidents and near misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • They will promote a positive safety culture through training, toolbox talks, safety campaigns, and employee engagement, fostering a culture of accountability and responsibility.
  • Maintenance and updating of EHS documentation, including policies, procedures, reports, registers, and records, is also an essential aspect of this role.
  • The Health and Safety Manager will monitor compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up on non-conformances.
  • They will also assist with contractor safety management, including permit-to-work, inductions, and audits, ensuring that all contractors adhere to our EHS standards.
  • In addition, the successful candidate will support environmental compliance activities as required, including waste management, chemical handling, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Staying current with changes in health, safety, and environmental legislation is crucial, and the Health and Safety Manager will share relevant updates with the team to ensure everyone remains informed.
  • Finally, they will contribute to continuous improvement projects and EHS initiatives as part of our overall strategy to drive excellence in EHS performance.
