Senior Design Coordinator

Job Overview:

The Senior Design Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects by coordinating design efforts and managing technical submittals. This position requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with consultants, architects, and other stakeholders to manage design coordination and information.
  • Communicate developed information to the construction team and ensure effective communication is maintained throughout the project.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the design team and subcontractors.
  • Manage the technical submittal process, including developing a submittal schedule in line with the programme and procurement schedule.
  • Work with Quantity Surveyors (QSs) to approve products and track submittals and reporting any delays.
  • Minute meetings with subcontractors regarding dates for submittals, shop drawings, manufacturing durations, on-site dates, installation approval processes, BCAR paperwork, and O&M information development.
  • Monitor the RFI register and ensure response times are met.
  • Minute production meetings with subcontractors through the course of the project.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in an Engineering discipline, Architecture, Civil, Structural, or Construction Management.
  • Experience within a main/specialist contractor ideal.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships at all levels and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the construction industry and project execution.
