Job Title: Health and Safety Specialist

Job Description:

A reputable construction company is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to lead the implementation of health and safety policies and procedures on a residential construction project in Ireland.

The successful candidate will be responsible for advising on overall compliance with statutory provisions, ensuring that the team adopts best practices in health and safety, and conducting regular site audits and inspections as directed in the Safety Management System.

  • Conducting regular site audits and inspections as directed in the Safety Management System.
  • Ensuring accurate records of statutory inspections and activities.
  • Advising and instructing on safety-related topics, including noise levels and machinery use.
  • Assisting Site Management in drafting Method Statements.
  • Reviewing policies and measures, updating them according to legislation.
  • Inspecting premises and personnel to identify issues or non-conformity.
  • Reporting incidents, near misses, and follow-up actions to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Reviewing subcontractors' Safety Statements and Compliance.
  • Managing Health & Safety paperwork on-site.
  • Recommending Personal Protective Equipment for on-site employees.
  • Delivering Health & Safety induction programmes for new employees and contractors.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential qualifications include a recognised qualification in Health and Safety. A minimum 5 years of experience in an on-site HSO position is preferred, with Residential construction experience being advantageous. Safe Pass and Manual Handling certifications are necessary.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, ability to innovate and work effectively under pressure.
