Dublin, Dublin City, Ireland beBeeConservation Full time €1,500

This conservation program is dedicated to safeguarding marine life in Italy's dolphin and whale sanctuary. The goal of this 6-day sailing expedition is to provide hands-on wildlife conservation experience while exploring the Mediterranean.

Objectives
  • Conduct research on dolphins and whales in their natural habitat
  • Monitor and record geographic position, group size, composition, and surface activity patterns
  • Aquire acoustic recordings of vocalizations

You will be aboard the Jean Gab, a vessel that primarily navigates under sail. Your stay on this unique floating laboratory will be dedicated to engaging research activities, working alongside experts. Every day spent at sea promises new adventures and discoveries.

Your responsibilities include monitoring and protecting dolphins in their natural habitat, recording data, and acquiring acoustic recordings. You will also help record the presence of other marine species such as sea turtles, tuna, swordfish, fish schools, mantas, moonfish, and marine birds.

Arrival will be at Naples International Airport, where you will be guided to the island where the boat awaits. You will stay in a shared cabin with basic bathroom and kitchen facilities. The crew will teach you sailing basics, including rigging, steering, hoisting, and handling sails.

The tour runs from May to October each year. All accommodation, meals, project-related activities, and a premium support package are included. Flights, airport pickup, transfer to project, visas (if applicable), vaccinations, travel insurance, personal spending, and extra activities are not included.
