The role of a Clinical Nurse Manager is to create an environment that supports professional nurses in delivering exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities include:
- Leadership and Management
- Developing and implementing policies to optimize bed management and staff utilization;
- Deciding with the CNM2 on work allocation for staff nurses, student nurses, and healthcare assistants;
- Preparing weekly duty rosters, considering holidays, study leave, and other control limits;
- Clinical Practice
- Using a nursing framework to assess patient needs and plan appropriate care;
- Safeguarding patient welfare;
- Education and Development
- Identifying training needs and contributing to the development of training programs;
- Personnel and Communication
- Promoting high staff morale and team spirit;
- Budgeting and Administration
- Maintaining stock levels and encouraging economical use;
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered with the relevant division of the NMBI or entitled to be registered;
- At least 3 years of post-registration full-time experience (or equivalent) with 1 year in the specialty or related area;
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development;
- Annual registration and verification of PSAC with NMBI;
- Good physical and mental health, capable of performing duties effectively.
