A Day in the Life

Our Cardiac Ablation Solutions team is searching for a dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer II to join our growing team This is a hybrid role with a 4-day onsite requirement The selected candidate will be heavily involved in supporting the design work for a critical ablation program The team develops next-generation medical technologies that save lives and improve the quality of life for millions of patients worldwide.

A Day in The Life Of:

  1. Complex product design activities
  2. Perform concept development and prototyping
  3. Design/develop components manufactured via plastic injection molding, stamping, machining, extrusion, and related processes
  4. Create and interpret analyses to determine the suitability of design concepts
  5. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff
  6. Incorporate risk-based decision-making into the design process
  7. Apply Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies to all aspects of design and development
  8. Ensure on-time completion of Design Control deliverables
  9. Maintain current knowledge of related technologies
  10. Work with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure high-volume assembly feasibility
  11. Translate VoX feedback into product requirements
  12. Create and release engineering drawings, reports, and presentations
  13. Travel to supplier and manufacturing sites as required
  14. Present technical findings or project status to cross-functional teams and management
  15. Research, plan, design, verify, and validate electromechanical products and systems

Key Skills & Experience

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering and 2+ years of experience in mechanical product development or an advanced degree with 0+ years of experience.

Nice to Have

  1. DRM Greenbelt or above
  2. Experience in the medical device industry
  3. Experience in complex mechanical system design
  4. Experience with plastic injection molding in high-volume environments
  5. Extensive experience in 3D modeling, finite element analysis, and statistical design analysis
  6. Process and test method development and validation
  7. Formal training in Six Sigma methodologies
  8. Experience designing/developing catheters
  9. Experience with high-volume manufacturing
