Job Title: Relief Chef

Chef Relief is a fantastic opportunity to lead a busy kitchen that provides high-quality meals for service users and ensures the service conforms to regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the kitchen when on duty
  2. Meet the nutritional needs of residents
  3. Prepare high-quality food using fresh ingredients and adapted to specific dietary needs
  4. Maintain good order and organization in all aspects of catering on site
  5. Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are delivered

Additional responsibilities include food preparation, storage, and service as required, requisitioning and ordering of foodstuffs and materials daily and weekly, stocktaking and stock control procedures, efficient use of materials and equipment, including management of catering suppliers and related contracts, on-site catering for events, training courses, and assisting in training when required.

Health, Safety, and Food Hygiene:
  1. Ensure Health and Safety standards are met within the Health and Safety policy
  2. Total compliance with health and safety standards, including HACCP standards
  3. Undertake assigned duties regarding overall health and safety and security of buildings

The jobholder will record and report all health and safety and security issues. The role is not exhaustive; additional areas of responsibility may be added over time and flexibility to cover for other staff roles is required from time to time.

Person Requirements:
  1. Two years' experience in a catering environment
  2. Time spent working in a supervisory position desirable
  3. Previous experience in a social care environment desirable
  4. Understanding of why people become homeless and nutritional needs
  5. Ability to plan menus and produce high-quality meals
  6. Experience in requisitioning and rotation of foodstuffs and materials
  7. Flexible and co-operative team member
  8. Organizing, delegating, and communicating effectively
  9. Initiative and sound decision-making skills
  10. Knowledge of Health and Safety and Hygiene
