About the Position

We are seeking a seasoned editorial professional to lead our team in maintaining high editorial standards and managing reputational risk. As Head of Editorial Standards, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and credibility of our content.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the RTÉ Complaints Process and responding to complaints referred to Coimisiún na Meán.
  • Chairing and leading the Editorial Standards Board, including ongoing review of RTÉ editorial guidelines, pre-transmission viewings, and ongoing content reviews.
  • Providing advisory support to editorial executives on reputational and editorial risk and compliance.
  • Leading the RTÉ Election/Referendum Steering Group and related compliance matters.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders such as Coimisiún na Meán, Electoral Commission, Oireachtas Committees, government departments, and political representatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant relevant experience in broadcasting at a senior editorial/production level.
  • A working knowledge of RTÉ editorial guidelines, broadcasting legislation, and regulatory codes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail.
