Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Editorial Growth Strategist to join our dynamic editorial team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive audience strategy, leading the audience team to work closely with reporters, editors, and senior management to ensure that our journalism is reaching the widest possible audience and having the greatest impact.

A key aspect of this role will be to oversee a range of initiatives aimed at growing and engaging our readership in innovative ways. This will involve identifying key trends, opportunities, and areas for content improvement, as well as leading on SEO and other digital best practices to maximise the reach and visibility of our content.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a fast-paced newsroom environment, with strong analytical skills and expert-level SEO expertise. They will also possess effective project management skills, with experience working with multiple stakeholders to deliver strategy.

In addition to these technical skills, the successful candidate will have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to confidently translate and crystalise key information and share it with wider teams.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive audience strategy to drive growth and engagement
  • Lead the audience team to work closely with reporters, editors, and senior management to ensure that our journalism is reaching the widest possible audience
  • Identify key trends, opportunities, and areas for content improvement
  • Lead on SEO and other digital best practices to maximise the reach and visibility of our content
  • Manage workflows, set clear objectives, and provide regular feedback to the audience and social media team
  • Assist in managing social media accounts
  • Assist in development and execution of premium subscription content
  • Monitor analytics and news feeds to ensure the best content is being surfaced and effectively recirculate readers within our platform
  • Help execute and develop our push notification strategy
  • Help oversee growth in our video output making sure it's a key feature of the content we create
