Commissioning Editor Role

We are seeking a Commissioning Editor to join our team and work closely with authors, the commissioning, editorial, and sales teams to ensure projects are completed successfully.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in editorial management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to identify and work with new authors.

The role will involve attending industry meetings, building relationships with relevant bodies, and providing advice and assistance throughout the commissioning process.

Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning: Identify and work with new authors, manage the company's commissioning expectations, and provide advice and assistance throughout the commissioning process.
  • Editorial Management: Work closely with the author, commissioning, editorial, and sales teams to ensure projects are completed successfully.
  • Industry Engagement: Attend relevant industry meetings, build relationships with relevant bodies, and engage with subject associations, educational conferences, and other events.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven commissioning experience from an educational publishing background, ideally primary, although candidates from post-primary may also be considered.
  • Qualifications: Educated to degree level or equivalent, with excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Skills: Commercial awareness, strong sense of achievement, and experience of print and digital content.
