Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled database professional to join our client's team for a long-term contract role. The successful candidate will be responsible for migrating an internal application from MS Access to PostgreSQL and supporting the development of a web-based front end.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead database migration and modernisation efforts, ensuring a secure and optimised solution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver a high-quality outcome.
  • Support front-end development of the new web interface, focusing on best practices in user experience.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration.
  • Ensure database performance is optimal, through regular monitoring and proactive issue resolution.
Requirements:
  • 6+ years' experience with PostgreSQL and SQL, with a strong focus on database design, security, and optimisation.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux and scripting, with experience in web UI development.
  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
