About the Role:
  • This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of skill and expertise in providing residential and respite care for children and adults with an intellectual disability.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for acting as Person in Charge in the absence of the Service Manager, working positively and constructively with people we support who present with behaviours that challenge, teaching specific skills to service users living in the home, administering and supervising prescribed medication, and caring for the day-to-day needs of people we support living in the service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Acting as Person in Charge in the absence of the Service Manager
  • Working positively and constructively with people we support who present with behaviours that challenge
  • Teaching specific skills to service users living in the home, including self-help, domestic, kitchen, community, leisure, and social skills
  • Administering, supervising, and recording prescribed medication
  • Caring for the day-to-day needs of people we support living in the service, including personal care and housekeeping
  • Facilitating people we support to use their leisure time, tailored to their needs, with an emphasis on community integration
Requirements:
  • A professional degree (minimum level 7) in Applied Social Studies or relevant qualification
  • CORU Registration or in process of registration
  • Previous experience working with people with an intellectual disability or a similar field
  • A full current driving license with access to your own vehicle
