Job Description

A Quality Control Microbiologist is responsible for performing in-process, water and finished product quality control microbiology testing in the Microbiology Lab. Key areas of focus include managing environmental monitoring programs and performing microbial investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform API and water testing with expertise in Total Viable Count, Endotoxin Testing, Coliform Testing, and other methods as required.
  • Coordinate and perform environmental monitoring of packaging areas to ensure aseptic conditions.
  • Investigate QC and API Manufacturing microbiology issues with support from the QC Lead and Group Microbiologist.
  • Conduct analytical validation of microbiological methods to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Train QC Chemists in appropriate microbiology test methods and procedures.
  • Support other QC tasks as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant microbiology testing laboratory experience in a GMP/pharmaceutical setting.
  • Experience with Contamination Control Strategy for API manufacturing plants with low bioburden/endotoxin limits.
  • Cleanroom design and operation knowledge.
  • LIMS experience is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated lean capability is advantageous.
  • Change control skills are essential.
