Financial Analyst - Cost Management

Job Description

Our organization requires a Financial Analyst - Cost Management to oversee financial operations. This role involves working with finance and operations teams to manage manufacturing and supply chain costs.

  • Month-end close responsibilities include treating operating expenses, balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP, and submitting close deliverables.
  • Accounting for production activity, including material purchases, overhead absorption, and contract manufacturing costs.
  • Ensuring accurate accounting for buy/sell entities and intercompany inventory transactions, including calculating profit in inventory eliminations.
  • Developing an understanding of material flow from bulk production through to finished stage to ensure accuracy of inventory values.
  • Monitoring production plans for bulk production and CMO activity to ensure accurate inventory valuation and completeness of overhead absorption.
  • Conducting data analysis, interpreting, and communicating information to stakeholders.
  • Evaluating inventory balances for excess and obsolescence and determining the need for inventory reserves.
  • Reviewing and analysing inventory variances on a monthly basis and working with business functions to understand drivers.
  • Participating in the annual standard cost setting process.
  • Assisting with preparation of consolidated financial management reporting for balance sheet and P/L inventory areas.
  • Reviewing and maintaining cycle counts and initiating action on any discrepancies.
  • Working closely with CMO, supply chain, and production departments to ensure inventory accuracy at all locations.
  • Maintaining internal controls in line with corporate standards, GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Working with internal and external auditors as required.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, and experience in financial planning and analysis.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA qualification.
  • Experience in a multinational organization is required, with costing experience highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and internal control environment desirable.
  • Experience with integrated ERP systems, general ledger functions, sub-ledger processes, and period closing, with Oracle and/or SAP experience a distinct advantage.
  • Understanding of the relationship between other accounting functions and manufacturing accounting.
