Job Title: Employment Support Specialist

The Local Area Employment Service (LAES) programme aims to provide personalized support for long-term unemployed individuals with barriers to labour market participation.

This role requires working as a member of the LAES Team to deliver services to clients in the designated catchment area.

  • Engage clients using a participative and diagnostic approach, understanding their needs and goals.
  • Plan appointments effectively, building relationships with clients and identifying their aspirations and barriers to employment.
  • Assess client readiness to work and change, providing good customer service and meeting eligibility criteria.
  • Explain service offerings and ensure clients understand their rights and responsibilities.
  • Prepare Personal Progression Plans and identify necessary supports for each client.
  • Identify employment opportunities and make clients aware of these options.
  • Support clients with CV preparation and job seeking/interview skills, and liaise with employers for job matching.
  • Maintain accurate records of clients/groups in the catchment area.
  • Liaise directly with public and private training providers and agencies.

Key Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in employment, enterprise, and/or career guidance.
  • Prior experience supporting individuals with learning & development plans.
  • Counselling / Vocational Guidance/Social Work experience.
  • Experience working with barriers to employment.
  • Good Computer Skills and familiarity with CMS systems.
  • A formal qualification in guidance or counselling or other relevant area.
