Care Support Specialist

This is a compelling opportunity to be part of a pioneering service that provides trauma-informed care for young people aged 13-17.

You will work as an integral member of a cohesive team to deliver robust, holistic care and support the development of positive attachments through relationship building.

The Care Support Specialist role involves working closely with children and young people, household activities, administration, teamwork, professional development, and health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement tailored care plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person in accordance with current legislation.
  • Enhance the physical, emotional, social, and religious welfare of each young person through targeted interventions.
  • Support regular attendance at school, training centres, medical, and clinical appointments.
  • Organise personal documents, arrangements, information, and finances on behalf of the young person in line with organisational policies.
  • Liaise with parents, family, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Attend meetings related to the care and development of the young person to facilitate effective communication.
  • Engage in age-appropriate play and activities with each child/young person to promote healthy relationships.
  • Implement physical intervention techniques in accordance with local policies and procedures.
  • Encourage participation in decision-making processes affecting their lives.
  • Prepare well-balanced meals in conjunction with the young people to promote healthy eating habits.
  • Undertake home management, including household budgeting, upkeep, and cleaning to maintain a safe environment.
  • Attend team meetings and report to the Service Manager to ensure seamless communication.
  • Compile written and verbal reports on the progress of development of the young person.
  • Adhere to Child Protection procedures in accordance with designated officer responsibilities.
  • Stay up-to-date with current legislation and professional childcare knowledge through ongoing training and development.
  • Contribute to policy development, safe practice, and relevant legislation to ensure compliance.
