The Team

The Operations and Asset Management Division spearheads our core function – the operation, development, and enhancement of the power grid and wholesale electricity market. The team oversees key responsibilities such as transmission system sustainability, market development, and asset management, encompassing a range of activities from load flow studies to outage management.

System Operations Function executes critical activities as the Transmission System Operator (TSO) for Ireland, ensuring the reliability of power supply through strategic planning and engineering analysis. The team develops operational systems, tools, and policies, integrating innovative technologies securely and effectively.

System Integrity Function ensures robust operational planning, revenue metering, and protection of the power grid. The team develops transmission outage planning, revenue metering installations, and grid enhancements, coordinating power system protection relays and specifying settings for safe operation.

System Support and Analysis Function facilitates the comprehensive operational life cycle of grid connections, managing Tariffs, Imperfections, and Derogations processes. The team ensures Grid Code compliance, validates plant seeking system services, and develops test requirements, identifying daily issues affecting system operation.

Interconnection Function manages EirGrid's interconnectors, operational readiness, and asset management, collaborating with GB and EU stakeholders on engineering and market requirements. The team participates in working groups to progress testing associated with new interconnectors.

Operations Development and Compliance Function drives programme changes to support delivery strategy, integrating Grid Code, Market Codes, and operational European Network Codes. The team engages with external stakeholders, participating in working groups to influence change and implement regulatory decisions.

About You
  • An engineering degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience in power system operations.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with customers and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and diplomacy.
  • Strong organizational skills, track record of delivery, and ability to develop innovative proposals.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, comfortable with large data sets.
