Communication Specialist

We are recruiting a skilled professional to join an Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapy team in Westmeath. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients with communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing difficulties.
- Manage a caseload including elderly patients and those with neurological conditions (stroke, brain injury, progressive neurological disease).
- Develop and implement evidence-based dysphagia interventions, maintaining best practice standards.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (medical, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy) to ensure holistic care.
- Provide education and training for hospital staff, patients, and families on communication and swallowing strategies.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to clinical audits and service improvement projects.
- Participate in supervision and continuing professional development activities.
- Holds a recognized qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.
- Is registered with CORU (or eligibility).
- Possesses a dysphagia qualification and experience in an acute care setting.
- Demonstrates strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Can work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
