Commercial Director Position Overview

Our client is a leading retail business known for their innovative approach and commitment to excellence. They are seeking an ambitious Head of Finance and Business Partnering to lead their commercial team to success.

• The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the finance function, ensuring strong performance and collaboration with department heads.

• Key responsibilities include overseeing period-end reporting, monthly management, variance analysis, audit, and core internal finance deliverables.

• This role requires engaging in business partnering with 10 department heads to optimise and drive profitability through commercial insights, leveraging numbers, and identifying key metrics.

• Close collaboration with the Group FD and other budget holders on budgets and performance is essential.

• The ideal candidate will have experience in driving cost reduction and sales growth through proactive commercial ideas and solutions.

• Relationship management with third-party outsourcing in the warehouse is also crucial.

About You


• A fully qualified professional with 5 to 7 years post-qualification experience, possessing strong commercial acumen and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent ability to interact with department heads and drive collaborative relationships.

• Experience in Retail or FMCG sectors, particularly in trading entities or environments, is advantageous but not required.

• Alternative backgrounds in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Customer-Facing roles would be ideal.

• Enthusiasm about the retail industry and its challenges is a must-have.

• Ability to work closely with budget holders to optimise performance and drive results.

• Solution-oriented and proactive in approaching commercial ideas and opportunities.
